A computer is a relatively complex machine. Given this complexity, it is tempting to buy a new model, when it breaks down. This can be expensive!

Hardware is different, however. Some individual components are not very expensive (e.g. mouse, keyboard, sound card), but others are... However, "Windows" is very sensitive to computer viruses as well as to so-called malware (malicious programs which can infect your computer and in extreme cases steal your credit or debit card code) and tends to "grow" and "slow down" over time.  For all those who have "normal" use of their computer (ie not the gamers), it would be a good idea to change the operating system - to abandon "Windows" and install a "Linux" distribution like "Ubuntu" instead.
